Advocacy Services

Our City | Your Business

We advocate, influence and deliver policies and outcomes to drive economic growth and create opportunities to invest, work, live and visit our city.

A competitive and liveable Sydney

For nearly two hundred years we have worked to advance Sydney as a global, competitive and liveable city. While over this time the Sydney region has undergone many changes, what has remained is that it is the economic centre of the nation.

From Sydney’s northern beaches and precincts such as Macquarie Park, Pyrmont, and the Central Business District, to the city’s high streets including George, Oxford, and Parramatta Road, we strive to create an environment that attracts global investment and talent, has quality amenity and connectivity, and enhances employment.

We continue to drive Sydney’s evolution as a leading service economy with a strong reputation in financial and professional services, advanced manufacturing, tourism, international education and the arts.

Our mission to create a competitive and liveable Sydney with a strong and vibrant economy has never been more critical. Through our policy and advocacy work including thought leadership reports, submissions and campaigns backed by action, we address challenges to ensure the Sydney region is the nation’s premier place to invest, work, live and visit.

OUR ADVOCACY PRIORITIES

  • Public spaces: Business Sydney has been advocating for planning and land use reforms in order to make better use of our public spaces. This is particularly important as we now spend more time in our local areas and are working to develop a 24 hour economy - which will include utilising public spaces after hours. We support the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment’s Draft Public Spaces Charter.
  • Women’s safety charter: As founding signatories to the Greater Sydney Women’s Safety Charter we are pleased to continue supporting and working with this important initiative to improve the safety of women in our city. Created last year, the aim of the Charter is to by bring together businesses, government agencies, peak groups and not-for-profit organisations to take actions that improve the safety of women and girls in Greater Sydney.
