With NSW Minister, The Hon Steve Whan MP & TAFE MD, Chloe Read

Business Sydney was delighted to host a special presentation with Clayton Utz and TAFE NSW to highlight the vital importance of TAFE to the state economy and our wonderful city.

It was a great opportunity to meet the Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education, the Hon. Steve Whan MP and to be introduced to Chloe Read who, after being appointed Acting Manager of TAFE NSW in January, has now been invited to lead the organisation as Managing Director. Ms Read pointed out that Mums are the most influential in their children’s career and study choices on leaving high school.

TAFE has never been more important to driving growth and productivity in the economy as it provides education and training to 400,000 students a year across 85 industry sectors and more than 250 occupations.

We heard from the Minister on the Minns Government’s strategic changes to the TAFE Charter and heard from Ms Read on how this reform agenda will flow through to implementation of the new TAFE Operating Model.

There was also an interesting panel discussion facilitated by Danny O’Connor, Chair of the TAFE Commission Board, featuring the Minister, Ms Read and Business NSW CEO, Daniel Hunter, with an opportunity for guests to participate in the discussion.

Thank you to Clayton Utz Partner, Dr Ashley Tsacalos, for hosting this reception and to Lyndal Hughes, Managing Director Australia/New Zealand, Q5 who moved the vote of thanks.
