THE TAB EVEREST 2026 BUSINESS LUNCH

With The Hon David Harris MP, NSW Minister for Gaming and Racing

   EVENT PARTNERS:

On the eve of the race, Business Sydney hosted our annual TAB Everest Lunch, held in partnership with TAB and Racing NSW, to celebrate the 10th running of The TAB Everest, the world’s richest horse race on turf.

The lunch brought together business leaders, racing industry representatives and special guests for an afternoon of racing insights, entertainment and celebration at Royal Randwick Racecourse.

Our thanks to Steve McMahon, CEO, Australian Turf Club, for delivering the official welcome, and to Michael Fitzsimons, Chief Wagering Officer, Tabcorp, for introducing the Hon. David Harris MP, NSW Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and Treaty, Gaming and Racing, Veterans, Medical Research and Central Coast, who addressed guests on the significance of The TAB Everest and the racing industry in NSW.

We also welcomed David Layzell MP, Shadow Minister for Racing, who shared his remarks with guests.

A highlight of the afternoon was the exciting phantom call of the 2026 TAB Everest, conducted by Darren Flindell, Caller, Sky Racing, bringing the anticipation of race day to life ahead of the big event.

Guests also enjoyed an engaging Q&A with racing identities Ciaron Maher, Leading Trainer and Sam Clipperton, Jockey, hosted by Emma Freedman, Presenter and Racing Identity with the Seven Network. The discussion offered valuable insights into the sport, the competitors and the excitement surrounding this year's race.

The second panel discussion continued the conversation with Dr Saranne Cooke, Chair, Racing NSW; Steve McMahon, CEO, Australian Turf Club; and Peter Switzer, Financial Commentator on Ben Fordham’s breakfast program on 2GB, with Emma Freedman guiding the discussion.

Guests enjoyed the much-anticipated draw for the Official Everest Calcutta, followed by the Calcutta auction, conducted by Richard Callander, CEO, NSW Trainers Association, alongside prizes recognising the best dressed, best hat, best fascinator and best tie.

Our thanks to TAB, Racing NSW and the Australian Turf Club for their continued partnership and support in bringing this special event to life.
