Business Sydney | Australian Made Campaign Limited
RECOGNISING AUSTRALIAN MADE WEEK
Lunch with The Hon. Dr Andrew Charlton MP, Assistant Minister for Science, Technology and the Digital Economy
EVENT PARTNER:
Business Sydney and Australian Made brought together leaders from government, industry, manufacturing and business to recognise the outstanding businesses, makers and growers producing goods “Made Right Here.”
Sydneysiders understand the importance of backing Australian-made products, supporting local jobs, strengthening our economy and building resilience through innovation and manufacturing.
We were honoured to welcome The Hon. Dr Andrew Charlton MP, Assistant Minister for Science, Technology and the Digital Economy, Cabinet Secretary and Federal Member for Parramatta, who shared valuable insights into Australia’s innovation future and the importance of supporting local industry and enterprise.
Thank you also to Lyall Gorman, President of the Australian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ACCI), for his opening remarks and for highlighting the critical contribution Australian businesses make to our nation’s prosperity and economic growth.
A major highlight of the morning was the engaging fireside conversation between Ben Lazzaro, Chief Executive of Australian Made Campaign Limited, and Dr Kenneth Cato AO, Chairman and Global Creative Director of Cato Design Limited, reflecting on the history and enduring significance of the iconic Australian Made green and gold kangaroo logo, one of Australia’s most recognised national symbols.
Guests also enjoyed an outstanding panel discussion featuring leading Australian business voices and manufacturers driving innovation and championing Australian-made products across diverse industries:
- Bill Cloros, Managing Director of Victor Footwear and Manufacturer of Mongrel Boots
- Jemma Somervail, Brand Director of Freshwater Farm
- Brian Blowes, Founder and CEO of BAB Group
- Ben Lazzaro, Chief Executive of Australian Made Campaign Limited, who facilitated the discussion.
The conversation explored the opportunities and challenges facing Australian manufacturers, the growing importance of consumers supporting local businesses, and the future of Australian-made innovation in an increasingly competitive global marketplace.
Thank you to Melina Morrison, Chief Executive Officer of the Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals (BCCM) for delivering the vote of thanks and closing the morning so thoughtfully.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to Australian Made, our valued event partner, for their continued collaboration and commitment to championing Australian businesses, manufacturers and products.
