Our business leaders joined ASIC Commissioner, Simone Constant, for an exclusive reception hosted by Ernst & Young in Sydney.
The Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC) is Australia's integrated corporate, markets, financial services and consumer credit regulator.
ASIC is an independent Australian Government body. and carries out most of their work under the Corporations Act.
At this reception, Commissioner Constant spoke about her career from the public sector to private sector and her motivations for coming back into the public sector, joining ASIC in late 2023. She spoke about her experience in risk management and her priorities as an ASIC Commissioner. Commissioner Constant outlined the sectors she was focused on including markets, superannuation and cyber security.
After her address, Commissioner Constant sat down to a Q&A facilitated by Andrew Price, Managing Partner of EY Sydney.
The vote of thanks was moved by Diane Tate, CEO, Australian Finance and Industry Association (AFIA).

SIMONE CONSTANT
Commissioner, ASIC
Bio
Simone commenced as an ASIC Commissioner for a five-year term on 20 November 2023.
She has more than 23 years’ experience in financial services, markets, legal services and risk management.
Most recently, Simone was the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), Institutional Bank and Markets at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Simone has also held CRO roles at the National Australia Bank in the corporate, institutional and consumer banks.
She held senior NSW Government positions with the NSW Departments of Education, Treasury and Finance, where she specialised in risk management.
Simone has also held senior roles in Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom at multinational investment, capital management and law firms.
She holds Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Law from the University of Sydney.
