Purple Flag: Safer, More Vibrant Districts
A Partnership for Sydney's Future
EVENT PARTNER:
At this reception, Business Sydney and the Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner and their guests celebrated the expansion of Purple Flag accredited precincts across New South Wales.
The Hon. Jason Yat-sen Li MP, Member for Strathfield, delivered an address highlighting the importance of creating thriving, connected communities and the role of collaboration between government, business, and local communities in shaping vibrant precincts across New South Wales.
The evening continued with an engaging panel discussion facilitated by Sally Loane AM, Chair, Destination NSW, featuring:
- Mal Lanyon APM, NSW Police Commissioner
- Michael Rodrigues, NSW 24-Hour Economy Commissioner
- Miriam Wassef, Director City Vision, Burwood Council
The discussion explored how collaboration between police, government, businesses, and communities is creating safer and more vibrant precincts across NSW. Panellists shared valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges associated with creating successful after-dark economies, as well as the importance of place-based initiatives such as Purple Flag in supporting economic growth and community wellbeing.
With ten Purple Flag accredited districts now operating across NSW, the state continues to demonstrate leadership in creating precincts where people feel safe, businesses have confidence to invest, visitors want to spend time, and communities feel welcome after dark.
We also thank Vince Sorrenti, one of Australia’s leading comedians for delivering the vote of thanks and helping to conclude an insightful and engaging evening.
Our sincere thanks to all our speakers, panellists, and guests for contributing to the event, and to the Office of the 24-Hour Economy Commissioner for partnering with Business Sydney to celebrate the Purple Flag initiative.
