RAIL SYSTEMS REVIEW FOLLOWING MELTDOWNS A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION

Business Sydney executive director Paul Nicolaou said:
“Sydney needs a reliable public transport system and the independent rail infrastructure and systems review announced by NSW Transport Minister Jo Haylen today is a step in the right direction.
Business Sydney has consistently called for the appointment of a transport and traffic management ‘tsar’ with the authority to ensure Sydney’s public transport system operates efficiently.
With the aspirations of a global city, Sydney cannot afford to have a rail system where there are repeated meltdowns.
Commuters being late for work or getting home, passengers missing airline flights and sports fans arriving at major sporting events at half-time because of public transport issues harm our wonderful city’s reputation.
The review ordered by Minister Haylen is both timely and very necessary.”
